Keto Recipes for BBQ Season!

Ahhhh…. Barbecue.

Nothing more keto on the planet, people, than good ol’ BBQ! And with Memorial Day and 4th of July right around the corner, there’s no better time to switch to a high fat, low carb way of eating.

Everyone “going keto” has to go through that awkward stretch of time where you’ve gotta adjust your normal recipes to become keto-friendly. I experimented for months to figure mine out and am about to share with you some of my favorite keto BBQ sides sure to keep your taste buds happy and the diet interesting for the summer months.

Keto “cornbread”

  • This link is my go-to ALL YEAR LONG and is doubles as the base for not only “cornbread” but also for hush puppies and those cornbread- and cream of chicken soup -based casseroles. Texas Granola Girl, you ROCK!

    Southern green beans

These are made all over the South and everybody’s got their own rendition, but this is the one that my family loves:

  • 2 cans of cut green beans

  • 1 chicken bullion cube

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1 heaping tbsp of dried minced onion

  • 1 heaping tbsp of bacon grease (YES, bacon grease!)

Bring to a boil, then simmer until the onions are soft, about 15 minutes

    Voila!

    Keto cole slaw salad dressing

This one can be adapted to any chopped salad you want to dress with a keto friendly dressing:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise (I like Kraft Real Mayo or Duke’s)

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1/2 cup Swerve granular

Whisk together and let set in the fridge until the Swerve dissolves, about 30 min, then add to your slaw/salad recipe.

There you go! Three EASY, go-to recipes for summer BBQ. Bon Appetit!
